Renowned classical concert pianist Irina Lankova performs on major stages worldwide, such as Carnegie Hall in New York, Wigmore Hall in London, Salle Gaveau in Paris, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Cidades des Artes in Rio and many others.
A unique artist, as much in her deeply expressive interpretations and meaningful program choices as in her personal and engaging way of presenting the works with some fascinating keys to listening, she creates an exciting and poetic concert experience.
Described by international critics as a pianist with a “genuinely poetic touch”(The Independent), an “infinite palette of colours”(La Libre Belgique), and a “golden tone” (Pianist), Irina Lankova “brings the traditions of deep expression and singing piano tone to a wide range of repertoire... but creates an unconventional experience where everyone feels welcome” (International Piano Magazine).
Her sensitive and virtuosic playing, natural charisma and elegance, creative personality, and warm storytelling have built a large international community around her. Her concert halls and social media performances always attract a broad audience. She plays Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, Schubert and Bach with an intuitive and authentic approach, inviting her audience to an emotional journey.
After graduating with the highest honours from Gnessin College of Music in Moscow and Brussels Royal Conservatory, Steinway Artist Irina Lankova has lived in Europe for the past two decades. Her last season was highlighted by her sold-out recitals at Carnegie Hall in New York, Salle Gaveau in Paris, and Het Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Season 2023/24 is marked by the release of the new album “A Moment Illuminating Eternity,” recorded live at Salle Cortot in Paris, and a recital tour with the same program worldwide.
Music is the language of the heart
I fell in love with piano when I was seven, listening to passionate and intense music by Sergei Rachmaninoff. Becoming a concert pianist allowed me to share my passion with the world and contribute to perpetuating the works of great composers.
Classical music is an integral part of our cultural heritage that always has raised the most important questions about our human condition: Why are we here? What’s after? It is also a universal language, transmitting the emotions that we all have in common and which are timeless.
Interpreting the music of Bach, Schubert, Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, for whom I feel a special affinity, is a privilege and a joy. My greatest wish is to bring it to everyone, through concert programs and recordings that touch the heart and nourish the soul. At my Piano Unveiled concerts, I share a few enlightening keys to listening, evoking the historical context, interesting facts about the composer, or drawing fascinating parallels with other art forms. It allows me to establish an even greater connection with my audience and create a truly exciting concert experience for everyone.
The famous phrase by Dostoevsky says “Beauty will save the world.” I hope my modest contribution by bringing beauty and wonder will make it a better place.
